| Athens-Chilesburg Elementary, located in Lexington, KY, began construction of this high-performance sustainable $12.9 million school in April 2005. This school incorporates green & sustainable concepts, including geothermal & solar energy, environmental education for students, and use of green & sustainble products. Opened in August 2006, this PreK-5 serves roughly 600 students. Grade levels are denoted by color, and each classroom is equipped with a teacher storage cabinet and student cubbies.
